Slow to get printer assistant windows 10 after clicking on shortcut

HP Recommended
HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Windows 10 64 bit.  Officejet Pro 8600 plus.   Wireless connection.  Computer hardwired to modem/router.

When I click on shortcut for printer a panel comes up saying retrieving information from device.  This seems to take

a long time ( 2 minutes) before the print assist. opens.  Then clicking on scan a document takes a minute to  open to start the scan process.  I have noticed that the time gets shorter after doing the first print job but still longer than it should.

I do not have a easy way to hard wire printer to router.  I read that this could have to do with port settings on the

centruylink modem/router.  Not for sure how to address that if it is the problem.

Thanks

Don't worry I will try help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Try updating the firmware on your printer and check if it helps.

Link to update printer firmware.

If the issue still persists, uninstall the printer software from the root level and install the latest drivers for your printer.

Steps to uninstall printer software.

1. Navigate to Start >Type Devices and Printers in the Search > Select it from the results

2. Highlight your printer object and Right Click

3. Choose Remove Device

4. Highlight something else from the list

5. Click the Print Server Properties button from the toolbar

6. Select the Drivers Tab

7. Highlight the appropriate print driver

8. Click Remove

9. Check the Remove Driver and Driver Package option when prompted

10. Click OK
