Why when I plug my speakers in the back in the appropriate place the volume is so much lower then when I put it in the front jack for the microphone?

I have an Envy 700-230q.

Re: Sound

Hi Claudia98223,

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP ENVY 700-230qe CTO Desktop and having sound issues. Here is a fix from Microsoft that has helped.

Speakers not working Windows 8
1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers
4. Enable it and set as Default
5. Click Apply/Ok

Are these the speakers that came with your computer?

Hope this is helpful to you.
