Can any one tell me what this code means?, Computer had a major crash last year for no reason that i can explain, after that the dvd drive would not recognise any kind of media, still won't work (DVD/CD drive was hardly used since pc was purchased) then came the intermitent crashes and blue screens, it once said it couldnt find a OS on a reboot after a crash? an hour later it booted up fine? I'm thinkin HDD is knackered? bad sectors etc? BTW its a pavilion 23 touch-screen i5 its not used for playing games, heavy downloading or anything that pushes the system, just homework, emails and general web surfing.  Very annoyed as its just over a year and a half old and out of warranty!

Hi,

Sadly to say: Most of the time the 24 char failure id indicates the HDD is failing and it needs to be replaced. As it is out of warranty now you have to rebuild machine with new HDD. You have to order a recovery set from HP or try:

1. Hardware: the following video may help:

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgZXO1THbUM

2. Software:

   (a) Firstly Windows 10: Please use the following link to create installtion media

             https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

during the installation process, it will ask for a key. Please skip and continue, Windows will activate when you come online (note: you MUST install same old Windows 10 version/edition).

    (b) Drivers and original software: Please use the following link to download software and drivers for your machine

Regards.
