TV tuner card

HP Envy 700-311na
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Can anyone recommend a TV tuner card for my HP Envy 700-311na pc.  It came without one so I fitted my working Hauppage Win TV card (from my old HP Pavilion pc, about 5 years old) in the PCI slot and it wasn't detected so I tried it in the other vacant slot and again it wasn't detected.  I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro and will be upgrading to Windows 10 when available.

You need to be sure that the PCIE slot is "enabled". Otherwise, your just going around in a circle.  Access the BIOS via F10 at startup.  The following is the submenu's to access.   Security menu,  System Security, then Slot Security.

Please report back the settings you found for each slot,  as I would be curious.

Checked out as you suggested and all 4 are reading enabled, e.g. PCIE x16 enable.  Is it because my old card was about 5 years old and the new slots aren't compatible?

No.  It is nice to know you found all ports/slots were active/enabled. I surmise you need a new install disk for WIN8. Please contact them at http://www.hauppauge.com/ and ask.  In fact, the install set might be available.

I bought their latest install disk and it didn't solve the problem hence I sold the disk and tuner card on ebay and am now looking for a tuner card that will work with the HP Envy 700-311na.  I live in the UK so must be compatible with UK transm issions.
