Touchsmart 320-1030: Is it 200 pin SO-DIMM or 204?!?!? Yet more HP contradictions (lies?)

So I want to upgrade my RAM on the 320-1030. The specs page says "Two 200-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM sockets".

It also says "Supports DDR3 SO-DIMMs" and specifically "PC3 10600 (1333 MHz)" and "PC3 12800 (1600 MHz)".

Yet more HP contradictions (lies?)

1) The parts page lists the item pre-installed is 572293-D88, a 204-pin item. See here, here, here, here, and here.

2) Using the automated systems for major RAM sellers all indicate 204-pin RAM will work on the 320-1030.

Crucial.com

Newegg.com

What gives?!?

Hi:

I do not believe there is any such thing as a 200 Pin DDR3 SODIMM, so HP's reference to that is incorrect.

A DDR2 SODIMM memory module is 200 pin, and a DDR3 SODIMM is 204 pin.

Well, another HP lie.

The specs page for the 320-1030 says "Two 200-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM sockets".

It also says "Supports DDR3 SO-DIMMs" and specifically "PC3 10600 (1333 MHz)" and "PC3 12800 (1600 MHz)".

Of course, as someone pointed out, there is no such thing as a 200-pin SO-DIMM.

So I go out an purchase this item: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 1600MHz PC3 12800 Laptop Memory(CMSX8GX3M2A1...

And what happens? You guessed it, HP lied. The RAM worked for roughly 5-7 minutes then froze my system. When I went to inspect the RAM it was burning hot to the touch.

Another day, more HP contradictions and lies.

Now that my computer's ruined, where do I go to get warranty service?

I guess you can start at the link below and go from there.

I have never had to get service under warranty for any of my HP PC's.

Hi CynicalFlyer,

I'm sorry but this is a peer-to-peer community of HP customers, and not a venue to contact HP directly. Most of the users here are consumers like yourself who are offering solutions because they like to help others, and any HP employees you see are here on their own capacity and not representing the company.

If you have additional or direct feedback for HP about their products or services, or questions about repair, you can copy and paste the link below for contact information.

If you have other questions and concerns about using the forum, please feel free to send me a private message.

Thank you.

Touchsmart 320-1030: Is it 200 pin SO-DIMM or 204?!?!? Yet more HP contradictions (lies?)

Why is HP refusing to answer?

Their specifications page claims the RAM I bought should work (or actually it LIES and said there's 200-pin SO-DIMM, there isn't such a thing).

I try to use the RAM and it freezes my computer.

It is under warranty (purchased December 2011).

Can someone PLEASE help!
