Upgrade From Win10 10240 to Win10 14393 Failed on Envy 860-180st

Envy 860-180st
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have repeatedly encountered a failures in trying to upgrade Win 10 from 10240 version to the current 14393 version.

1. I used the Windows10Upgrade28084.exe program - failed.

2. I used the MediaCreationTool to download the iso and create a bootable DVD for upgrade - failed.

3. Created virtual drive for the iso to upgrade - failed.

The normal Windows Update function appears to work properly - I get windows and other updates on the usual time basis.

The relevant files for diagnosing what went wrong seem to be:

A. The $WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log

B. The $WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log

C. There are also small files with these same names in the $WINDOWS.~WS\Sources\Panther folder (i.e., another setupact.log and setuperr.log)

Here is the file $WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log:

The WIN10 10240 is the original OS for this system as factory installed by HP.

I appreciate someone stating what went wrong (and keeps going wrong with various approaches to upgrade) and how do I fix it ?

Thanks.

Upgrade From Win10 10240 to Win10 14393 Failed on Envy 860-180st

Hi there @MicahStone,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I understand that you are having trouble with your Windows 10 version updates installing. I am happy to assist with this.

I would suggest that you do all the hardware tests on your computer before proceeding, just to rule out any hardware issue. HP Desktop PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 10, 8).  If nothing is found then I would suggest that you contact Microsoft Support - support.microsoft.com.

Some other pages from Microsoft that you could look at for now:

Windows 10 Update not working  - answers.microsoft.com

Windows 10 Update is not working - answers.microsoft.com

Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.
