Hello All

 

I have a HP Pavilion a6522f Desktop PC with 8 GB of RAM with a processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core at 2.6. According to the manual my sokets is  AM2+ The S/N is MXU8250339. i will like to upgrade my processor to max.

 

Witch is the max processor that i can upgrade in this model, will a need a new heat skin and thermol passte. If so do i have to upgrade the Power Supply for this model.

Here is the link to upgrade CPU models. The "Phenom with Quad Core (Agena) technology (AM2+) up to 9600 (up to 95 watt)" seems to be the top model.  You will need new thermal paste, using the same heat sink.  The variation in power is only an added 6W. Here's a link (sold out) but look at the specs. Amazon should have it.  Do not get the Black Edition.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Know i understand that i need a net thermal paste talking about the variation in the Power supply.

 

Do i need to add those 6w or can my power supply supported if not what i need to do change the power supply what are the models comparabel with this case thanks

Your present PSU will handle the newer CPU.
