Usb drive not reading...

My computer won't read my microsd usb adapter, it just doesn't show in the computers screen, if it matters, I'm using windows 7.

Is the USB port working with other devices? I've had this problem with USB memory card adapters before. In my case it's always the adapter's fault (or rather my fault for buying cheap adapters off ebay). But I can usually get them to work by plugging them in and out a few times, maybe jiggling them a bit. Not an elegant solution by any means.
