HP p6310y
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I am still using an HP  p6310y desktop I bought several years ago, and it is almost perfect for what I need to do on it.  However, I have started doing a little gaming with World of Warcraft being the choice right now.   I want upgrade the onboard graphics. Was thinking of a EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470, or something like that. I will have to change the power supply, but will it fit and work on my system.

Hi @Yoof,

Thanks for becoming a member of the HP Support Forums. I understand you have questions about video card upgrade. I will be glad to help you.

The Motherboard M2N78-la only support PCI Express 1.  The EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 is PCI Express 2.0.  It will fit in the computer but will still only have PCIe 1 speeds.

For under $550.00us you can get an  Envy 750 with a much better video card, more memory, and much faster processor.

Please keep me informed of how things went.

If you require further assistance, let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help you.
