We want to upgrade my son's Pavillion p6-2110 for gaming. What's needed & compatible? Thx :)

Pavillion p6-2110
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We need to do this as economically as possible. We are planning to upgrade the RAM. Are we limited to 2, 4GB RAMs?  Do we need a new power supply and graphics card?

@Steph4000, welcome back to the forum.

Here is the Product Specifications page for the computer.  You should take a look at the Processor upgrade information, the Memory upgrade information & the power supply (PSU) information.  If you upgrade the processor to a Quad it would be faster, but would add a considerable amout to the cost.  The computer can support 8 GB of memory in a 64-bit system which is what you have.  The PSU is only 300W which means that it will need to be upgraded.  Most newer video cards require at least 400W to operate properly.  I like Corsair products and recommend at least 500W.  A modular PSU is very good for smaller cases because you only have to use the cables that are absolutely necessary.

Now, as for the video card, this is where it gets tricky.  Most newer cards after the GTX 660/670 series require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  I have been suggesting that members choose a manufacturer and contact their Tech Support for help with choosing the best card for their system.  This will save problems with needing to return a card that doesn't work.  The seller pays to ship the card to you, but you pay to return a card that doesn't work.
