Why does my HP Support Assistant software hang up on the 5th step of an automated tune-up?

My Computer is a p6710f HP Pavillian Desk-Top Computer Prod.#BV530AA#ABA  with Windows 7 Operating system. My HP Support Assistant started hanging up during it's automatic tune-up process about a week ago. It never finishes the tune-up process, just hangs up on the 5th step, Clear Temporary Folder. It looks like it is processing but it has been on that step now for over 24 hours without proceeding to the next step. I have to just cancel the tune-up at that point. What can I do to fix this problem?

I have similar problem but my Touchsmart 520 PC # QU392AA#ABG hangs at the Disk Defragment stage which is still running after 24 hours.
