Windows Update not working after cloning to 1 TB drive

I have an HP Elite 7100.  I cloned my Windows 7 (64 bit) 500 gb drive to a 1 tb drive (Seagate Barracuda HDD 1 TB SATA-600) using the Seagate Disk Wizard.  New drive boots fine and most programs work.  However, Windows update does not work, Outlook will not display images, Internet Explorer will not download anything, and SQL Server services will not start.

Windows Update displays a message saying the service is not running, but, it is.  IE does not do anything when attempting to download a file.  SQL Server says there is a sector issue of 4096 vs 3072.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Re: Windows Update not working after cloning to 1 TB drive

Hi Idsanders2807,

Sounds like you have disk misalignment errors resulting from cloning the 500 GB HDD to the 1 TB HDD.

I am not familiar with Seagates' disk cloning tool but you usually have to resize the cloned partitions to fill the larger HDD.

You could try Macrium Reflect free edition available here

You could try running Microsoft's System File Checker on the cloned drive.
