Windows media help please!!

I have windows media player 12 and am using windows 7. I can rip music from a cd to the media player and listen to it, but when I close the player and then use it again its not in there any more, and then if I go back to it again say an hour or so later its reappeared and then disappears again when i start it back up!! I have tried various cd's and they just seem to disappear! I started the media player up this afternoon and now ALL my playlists have vanished aswel. I dont know if its a problem with Windows 7 or what, when I had XP I didn't have any problems. Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Treacle, sorry to say, but I believe this is a problem for Microsoft's Customer/Tech Suppport.  I may be a glitch in Win7 or you may have a program that is causing a conflict.  Microsoft should be able to help you solve the problem.
