Planing to upgrade the RAM, Need to know if RAM -HP 16GB 1X16GB 2RX4 PC-3L -12800R Memory [Part No : 713756-MH1] will support HP Z820 workstation.

SHIJU2011,

PC-3L -12800R  =  DDR3-16000 ECC registered low power ("L" = 1.35V) and as far as I know, the z820 is supposed to be able to run it, but it will run at the standard 1.5V anyway.

That part number refers to a Proliant server. Low power RAM is typical in servers but in a z820 there will be no energy efficiency advantage.

I'd advise using the standard PC3-12800R and use the HP model having the correct timings.

Cheers,
