My new ZR2740W monitor goes blank when I set the resolution to 1600x900 or higher. The blue LED starts blinking which according to the manual means "resolution too high". It should work at its native resolution 2560x1440 of course.

My videocard is an ATI Radeon HD5870 which is supposed to display up to 2560x1600. It can easily control two monitors at 1920x1200, but not the ZR2740W, not even when that is the only monitor attached.

Can anybody give me some advice?

Thanks!

Djeez.

Hi,

Have you checked the refresh rate ?

It is at 60 Hz. The only other option available is 59 Hz but that does not help.

In the Cataylist Control Center (provided by ATI) I can select "Reduce DVI frequency" but that does not help either. The problem persists using either DVI or DisplayPort.

Thanks,

Djeez.

I'm having the exact same or very similar issue. I've got a ATI Radeon 5800 series graphic card, should be more then capable of running both of these monitors yet they are blank with the flashing blue light. I've tried downloading latest ATI drivers as well as laters HP ZR2740w drivers (i'm running windows 7 64 bit).

As you've mentioned I've tried DisplayPort as well as DVI.

I have Win7,64bit too, and also downloaded latest drivers for everything. I am returning the monitor.

Thanks for your message.

i got it to work (somewhat).

  1. I downloaded and installed the full AMD catalyst software
  2. I create an "Eyefinity" monitor group
  3. resolution was autoset at 5120x1440

I'm going to trya nd split the two screens now (although i'm kind've enjoying it being all one...)

I have a ZR2740W and have made it work at high resolution with HD 6950. However, I had the same results as you with HD 6450 and HD 6770.

I've been working with HP for a while now on this (mostly me waiting on them) and it finally went to their ATI guys and they have confirmed this is an ATI issue and they are expecting to release new drivers by the end of the month. I hope he gets me the beta he said he might be able to get earlier. I am already running a 6 display setup on mny 8560w that includes 2 zr2740w's, and running them at 1280x720 is is that last little touch to finish it off!

... I just unpacked this monitor only to be hugely disappointed that I have a lousy resolution of 720 x 1280. I thought initially it was my HDMI to DVI cable (which worked fine for my previous 24" LCD) so I swapped it out with a high quality DVI cable... still no go. Then I tried displayport... still no go.

This is crazy, I'm a reseller that continually swaps out monitors every 4 or so months out of emergency client needs or personal preference and every monitor has been fine on this system...

This seems like more of an HP problem than an ATI problem. I doubt I'll sell another one of these. I'll call HP support tomorrow and if there's no solution, I'm shipping it back.
