Hi,

That is really very strange since the motherboard posted for your PC show two sata ports.

BTW, I am not the computer guy peering into the BIOS on your PC.

Re: a610n doesn't see WD 1.5TB SATA hard drive

Let's review: Yes - this MoBo has 2 SATA ports - as I said earlier, I have been driving a SATA dvd burner off of one of them for 3 or 4 years now.  When the new SATA HD wouldn't come up on the 2nd SATA port, the next thing I tried was unplugging the dvd burner and plugging the HD into the same power and SATA cable and port as the burner had been on just in case there was a problem with the 2nd port or cable or power connector (I powered the computer down for any such changes).

Yes - in spite of the fact that this MoBo has 2 SATA ports, because it was an early SATA design, it has no SATA controller per-se, and no SATA settings in the BIOS - it somehow communicates thru the IDE.  But however they made that happen, it is also limited to the SATA 1 1.5Gb/s speed.  SATA 2 and SATA 3 apparently did not exist at the time, and the MoBo does not even see devices that run at speeds of greater than 1.5Gb/s.  That's what I've learned reading the several internet discussions of this exact MoBo that apparently was used in a lot of HP and Compaq computers of that time.
