The model number is not normal.
What is the system model number?, e.g. Compaq Presario SRxxxxx
Are you running XP, Vista or Windows 7?

That's a hard one to find, try Intel® Driver Update Utility and LAN/Network driver information and see if they help. If you can't get enough information from the computer and motherboard then try using HWiNFO32 to get the information you need (preferably the Intel® Ethernet Controller number then you can go to Intel's Download Center, select Ethernet Components > Ethernet Controllers > Intel® xxxxxx Ethernet Controller.

Looking at Intel site they say this problem and driver belongs with HP.
