Hello

HP is not provide Windows 10 drivers for your PC.

So Microsoft would have to give you right drivers.

No way to know without trying. But you better have backup and be prepared for anything.

Your computer was first produced in 2011.  When did you purchase it?  Was it after August 2013?

See: http://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05195282

for the "August 2013" dividing-point.

From: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-p7-Desktop-PC-series/5080737/model/51100...

you can purchase from HP a "System Recovery" set, to reinstall the original Operating System, namely either Windows 7 or Windows 8, depending on the date on which you purchased the computer.

If your computer came with Windows 7, there will be a "Windows 7" decal on the side (or bottom) of the computer.

If your computer came with Windows 8, the same might be true, or the product-key may be embedded in the BIOS.

As to the question from the "so-called" technician, the answer is somewhere between "maybe" and "probably".

If it was "beefy" enough to run Windows 8, it should run Windows 10.

The only question is whether the Windows 10 Installation Media contains all the device-drivers for the HP-specific hardware on your computer, since the HP web-site does not offer any device-drivers for Windows 10.

It is "remotely" possible that some of the device-drivers for Windows 8 will also work under Windows 10.
