computer emits 6 beeps and monitor does not work

HP Recommended
Envy h8

Everytime I turn it on it gives me 6 beeps. And the monitor is blank and recieves no signals. The monitor works fine.

When I turn it on all the fans are working including the disc slot.

Please help me fix this video issue.

Wowolucy, welcome to the forum.

When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.

Thank you for the additional information.

According to this document, the only 6 Beeps listed means as follows:

4, 5, 6, 7 Fatal errors related to the operation of critical motherboard components - such as the CPU.

Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved.

I can see this. I believe it is a video card error.

Any way to fix this. I tried almost every solution but still no changes.

Note: Everything looks fine, but there is no video and the six abnormal beeps.

Yes, you would have to replace the video card.  If you let me know what you do with the computer I will give you a recommendation.  It depends on the wattage of your power supply unit (PSU) if it will need to be upgraded, also.

ok i plan to buy a new psu and graphics card and hope everything works.

If I install a new graphics card and new psu  how will I set it up it if the monitor is blank?

Additionally how could i know if the cpu and motherboard are malfunctioning and giving me the errors.

Thanks for the quick response

You are welcome.

We can only hope that once you install the new PSU and video card that the monitor won't be blank.  It should use the existing driver until you have a chance to update it.

Now, for what video card and PSU should you buy?  In the specs for the computer there were three options for PSU's.  Which one did you choose; 300W, 460W & 600W?

As for the video card, here is one that I know will fit into the case and it has good ratings.  If your PSU is not 300W you won't need an upgrade.

EVGA 500W PSU

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H33SFJU?keywords=desktop%20power%20supply&qid=1454046864&ref_=sr...

and the

EVGA Geforce 8400 GS 1G Graphics Card

You are welcome.

They should both work.  You shouldn't have to do anything else.

Good luck!
