HP Pavillion 500-130a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am looking to upgrade my CPU for my Pavillion 500-130a, I have already upgraded my video card and PSU and added extra 16g RAM, my question is "Do I need to update my BIOS in order to upgrade my CPU?"

I note there are 2 BIOS updates available from the HP site, but have not done them to my machine as yet.

@Pops514

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion 500-130a Desktop PC and may upgrade the CPU and would like to know if the BISO needs to be updated for this. I'd like to assist you with this case. I did som eresearcha nd found that it is not necessary to update the BIOS when you upgarde the CPU. You may go ahead with the CPU upgrade without updating the BIOS.

Please refer to the processor upgrade information. Hoep this information helps. Keep me posted for any questions. All the best! 🙂
