HP OfficeJet 4650
Microsoft Windows XP

I simply swapped locations of my printer and screen. I guess the wiring came a little loose. When I turned back on my printer to begin scanning, the 2 no longer communicate. I don't know how to get them communicating again without uninstalling and starting from scratch. Need help

@Samaris,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to scan from your HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer to your computer after changing the location.

This issue could occur if the USB cable is not secure or the drivers are not updated.

Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link depending on how it is connected to the computer: USB Scanner Connection Error (Windows) or Network Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

Also, let us know how the printer is connected to the computer(USB or wireless).

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.
