hp monitor all of a sudden not working

The other day went to use the desktop computer, and monitor blank. The little blue light does turn on and off. A very brief screen says DVI-no signal, AGV-active. Is my monitor dead and needs replacing? Nobody touches this computer nor goes into the office but me. Before I go and buy another one, just thought I'd put this out this question.

Thanks in advance for any knowledge or help.

I should also say that I am pretty computer illiterate and there are no children/teenagers to source for help.

I understand when you turn on the monitor it is blank.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Did you make any changes on your PC or monitor?

Have you tried checking with a different video cable?

Have you tried connecting the monitor to a different PC and does the monitor work?

Are you connecting the monitor with a straight video cable or you are using an adapter?

Try restoring the BIOS to default and check if it helps.

Connect the computer to a working display to perform these steps:
Turn on the computer and repeatedly press F10. Press the key about once every second for 5 seconds after turning the computer on.
In the BIOS Setup utility, press the right arrow key and select the Power tab.
Press the down arrow key to select Hardware power Management.
Press the right arrow key to disable SATA Power Management.
Press F10 to save the settings and exit.
