Hi shortplay,

Have you checked the compatibility information for that card?

When you say won't boot, where is the system stuck? Are you getting the HP logo, and the POST messages?

The Z820 has an onboard SAS controller with 8 ports. Are you using this?

Couple of things I suggest:

1. Make sure you have the latest BIOS

2. If you have only ne CPU, move the card to a different slot and see if it comes up.

3. Do a BIOS reset (Press F10 when system powers up, and in the BIOS, look for "Set Defaults"

Knowing the excat error will help.

Thanks,

Sasi

OK...When you remove the SAS card, does the system come up?

Install the card in a different slots than the ones highlighted below (3rd and 4th slots):

Also, did you try resetting the BIOS? If you are not using the onbord SAS ports, you can disable them in the BIOS and see if it works.

Thanks,

Sasi

thanks

when i remove the card the system works perfectly

i havent tried reset bios  yet

i tried slot 4 (3 is occupied buy the graphics card ) still no/

i will try to reset bios and disable sas ports.

HP Recommended

Don't install in slot#3 and 4. Use another slot for the card. Slot 3 and 4 will be disabled if you have only one CPU.

Please let us know once you update the BIOS and reset.

Thanks,

Sasi
