Looking to add an additional m.2 SSD through PCIE and I have been researching that there are NVME drives only if your MB bios supports it and then there are AHCI m.2 drives that most likely are fully supported. The PC is Skylake based with the H110 ODENSE MB supplied by HP. I am trying to add another HDD storage drive and would like to boot from the PCIe SSD. Any information as to whether this is even possible would be greatly appreciated. I purchased the linked adapter below, but have not purchased an m.2 drive as of yet.
Allow me to welcome you to the HP community. A very good day to you. 🙂 I understand that you require assistance regarding information to upgrade the storage on your computer. It will be a delight to assist you here.
Fabulous description, stupendous research and very smart analysis of the issue were done before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
Did you check the computer’s product specifications?
Please note that HP does not recommend upgrading either the operating system or the computer’s hardware as the components that were initially installed with the unit are certified by HP for optimal performance. However, as you are very technically inclined, I would still request you to consult a local technician like Best Buy or Staples before proceeding to upgrade the unit.
So please contact a local Best Buy or staples technician and perform the upgrade so that there are no compatibility issues with the SSD for your computer and everything works smoothly.
Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply. 🙂
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
