Pavillion- HPE-510t
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a HP Pavillion HPE-510t

Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I'm in need of a new hard drive and don't know what kind type to get. I don't know how to find out what is in my PC.

started about a month ago; randomly I couldn't do anything. From opening a window to closing a window. It appeared to be froze.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete would work

I could go to start and choose to restart, but as soon as all the icons disappeared just an empty screen remained (with destop picture).

I was forced to turn off with power button.

I then turned back on after waiting a minute and displayed the enclosed screen.

Windows loaded after hitting F1

Any help is appreciated.

thank youIMG_3716.JPG

Ok.

You need a  3.5" SATA  legacy hard disk or a 2.5" format SSD to replace the failing hard drive with.

You can purchase it at a PC shop or at an online store. I will provide a link to NewEGG.com that shows the type you need.

Hard disks

SSD (2.5" format)

the only SSD controller type that won't work in your desktop PC is the latest type, NVMe.

Which would be the better choice; in your opinion?

Can you also help with steering me towards a great tutorial for install

Example of the title description at New EGG. Now do you see it? I tagged it in bright green for you.

Seagate BarraCuda STBD2000101 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Retail Packaging

The second two drives you posted show the rpm as 7200 on each one.  It is only the first one that does not show the RPM. I wouldgo with the firs one as a DATA drive and buy a 256 GB SSD for the system drive to put the OS on.  That is how the PC I am typing this on is setup.

Service procedures Photos and videos are at the following.

thanks for your assistance so far.

You have me confused right now as to why I need 2 hard drives.

I'm enclosing a photo of what it is showing I have.

Don't I only need to replace the failing one?

And how do I tell which one that is?

I'm sorry I'm not too knowledgeable on these things.

I was about to order the Seagate BarraCuda STBD2000101

and noticed that you did reply.

thank you

The image you provided shows a single hard disk with two visible partitions. 😧 is the recovery partition.

I was suggesting the method I and many others use to boost the performance of a desktop PC.  I have quite a few hard disks in the desktop I am typing this on.  See the image below. Disk C: is the disk with the system partition on it. It is currently the fastest disk type on the planet.  The boot time is around 14 seconds to the login window.

You do not need to buy two. One will suffice.  🙂

My wn preference is Samsung hard disks over Seagate. Seagate disks have been problematic for many of us.
