no internet connection
02-12-2017 08:24 AM

Just changed internet provider from B T to E E. Installed E E bright box 2 router. Went from copper to fibre optic connection. Cannot connect my desktop to the internet, but my laptop works perfect wireless. All green lights on router are on. Tried different things; Typed netsh int ip reset in command prompt and resetting failed. I get a message that the Default Gateway is not available and Connectivity (IPv4/IPv6) connected to unknown network, no traffic. HP trouble shooting does not help. Any ideas to get me connected again???

Hi @Wim51
Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to connect to your network wirelessly after changing the router.
I’d love to help!
Follow the below steps to fix this issue.
Open CMD as Admin: Copy the following commands, and press Enter after each one.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
netsh int tcp show global (Check if All settings have taken effect)
Reboot the system and see if it works.
If the issue persists, follow the steps in the below link.
Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

Thanks for your reply,
I called in a computer engineer and he solved the problem, unfortunately just for one day.
He reset manually the router login IP. It should be 192.168.1.1 ,but it was 192.168.10.1
Now after 24 hours I have the same problem. Resetting the router does not help.
I tried as you told me in CMD, but that does not help.
Cannot go online so cannot do anything else. I do not know how to reset the router IP so I am stuck again!
Wim.

I recommend you to follow the steps in the below link and check if it helps.
In case, if the issue is with the default gateway (Router's IP address) then I recommend you to contact your ISP and they will assist you to reset the router.
