Solved!

pavilion a350e won't power on

I have an HP Pavilion a350e.  The other day we experienced a power outage while the computer was on.  It was plugged into a surge protector along with printer, etc.  When power came back on we were unable to get the tower to power up.  All other equipment plugged into the surge protector powered up and is working. There is a green led on the back of the computer that flashes when we have the power cord plugged in, but the computer will not power up when we try to turn on.  The blue light does not come on, there is no indication that the computer is turning on (no fans, noise, etc.).  The power button had become rather touchy of late so I removed the the case thinking it might be the switch but it seems to be functioning normally (the button on the switch itself sounds and feels like it is functioning correctly).  I am reading things on posts that it could be the hard drive (hope not we have important information that we would have to retrieve), the motherboard, the power supply.  Can you give me any direction?

More than likely the PSU is blown.

The step-by-step tutorial on the PSU: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph06788

Your original PSU should resemble this: http://www.power-on.com/atx12v250bt.html

Please note the connectors and size of the supply. It uses a 20pin mobo connector.

A more efficient PSU and sized:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151086

Order the Seasonic as recommended.  The main connector on the Bestec is a 20 PIN.  The connector on the Seasonic is a 24 PIN.  I don't work on PC so I don't see how this will work.  Thanks.
