t5630w 07B BSOD after imaging

Got a t5630w with no HDD, so I'm trying to install XPe (Embedded 2009) onto a USB stick using another USB stick with the image from HP's support page for this model.

The install completes fine (takes about 45min), but it BSODs after displaying the XP boot logo for half a second. Error code 0x0000007B.

Have tried this a couple of times, with different USB sticks to no avail.

Also tried the older XP Embedded image, but this doesn't even install - says initalizing for a minute or so then exits to the D:\ prompt.

Any ideas?

Re: t5630w 07B BSOD after imaging

OK, I think I know why this is happening: the HP image is meant for an internal IDE flash based boot, it doesn't include drivers for a USB boot of XPe (is this even possible?) - hence it bsods on boot because the drivers aren't available.
