touchsmart 300 wireless

I have the following computer:   HP TouchSmart 300-1003.  It has the following Network Adapters:  802.11n Wireless LAN card (no brand given); Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter; Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.

I purchased a new Dual Band router, the Asus RT-N56U.  I am not able to join the 5 Ghz band. It was my understanding that the availability of an 802.11n gave you 5 Ghz capability.   Any suggestions to access the 5 Ghz band?

Hello @amost,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I understand that you are trying to connect to your new router at the 5 GHz capability and it is not working. According to the HP TouchSmart 300-1003 Desktop PC Product Specifications page your WiFi card operates at a 2.4 GHz single band and so does not have the 5 GHz capability.

I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
