updates

I received messages from support assistant that I needed updates- 9 in all. I updated cyberlink media player fine, but the rest said that a seperate installer has been launched and may be invisible. It said that I may have to do some steps to complete the installation. The other installer showed up on my taskbar after a while, but it never did anything and the installaion said in progress like forever, at al least an hour. I tried opening the other installer and it quit responding. Do I really need dthese updates. My system seems to be working ok so far. Thanks.

@fm4,
I am sending you a link. The page explains the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Then you use that link to the program. Please report back your success with the program.

The updater program is part of the OS, which is from MS.
When you run the updater from the settings tab, what do you think is the OS?
