welded screw

Upon opening the back of right side of the case on the top left corner of the motherboard backing you should see a flattened piece of metal where a screw hole should be. I am attempting to remove the motherboard for upgrade purposes, I cannot remove the motherboard as this is the bottom of a screw that cannot be unscrewed.

@sholom1

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you want to remove/upgrade the motherboard,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help you, although, to provide an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern:

Did you check your upgrading/service manual? If you haven't: Click here

I'm afraid HP doesn't support replacing motherboards and hence if you don't find the instructions on the website linked above,

You may need to either Contact HP for further support or simply contact a local tech.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number to obtain a case along with the phone number.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts,

And click on the Purple Thumbs up icon at the bottom of my comment.
