why does my computer not recognize me as an administrator?

My wife and I are both assigned as administrators in users. When I try to run a download, I get a message "sorry, this program requires administrator privilges" Is there a problem between the seat and the keyboard or is it a real problem?

Re: why does my computer not recognize me as an administrator?

Hi:

I don't have a specific answer for you. Even though you have adminstrator rights, some programs don't recognize them all the time and are looking for the actual PC administrator account which is disabled in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Try right-clicking on the program file after you download it and select "Run as Administrator" and see if that allows you to install the software.

The above is for Windows 7 or Vista.

If you have XP, log off your account, and log on to the administrator account and download and install the program from that account.
