I've just recently got an x3 / desk dock combo. Following the advice in the thread above (the sole place on the internet which seems to address / answer this question...) I've likewise found the ethernet connection works - set to Airplane mode, into the Desk Dock, and Edge suddenly becomes very snappy indeed.

Which is lovely but...  ...how come the phone / desk dock don't show on the network on any other machines? It would be useful to be able to transfer files to/from the x3's storage but this doesn't appear possible (without plugging it into the host PC via USB, which is easy enough but 0/10 on th enerdy satisfaction scale...).
