@Sumayari,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • How do you shut down the computer?

While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it resolves the issue.

Update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

If you continue to face the issue, follow the below steps.

1. Right Click: Windows icon in the lower-left corner of the task bar
2. Select: Run
3. Type:
msconfig
4. Click: OK
5. Select: Services
6. Check: Hide all Microsoft services
7.
Uncheck:
Only 3rd party programs that you installed. Do not uncheck Intel, NVIDIA or AMD services
8. Click: Apply/OK
9.Click: Restart
10. Shut Down: Perform a shut down to see how long it takes

If the issue persists, follow the below steps.

  1. Right-click on the Start icon.
  2. Click Open Windows Explorer.
  3. On the left side of the window, click Computer.
  4. At the Hard Disk Drives section, right-click on the volume you want to check for errors.
  5. Click Properties.
  6. Go to the Tools Tab.
  7. At the Error-checking section click Check now.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!

Hello I have a new HP Envy x360 convertible as well, with the exact same issue.  These steps do not resolve the issue.

What is the next step?
