Product: HP Mixed Reality Headset
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
My HP Mixed Reality Headset 2 in 1 HDMI/USB3.0 cable was damaged, and thrown away. I figured I'd just buy a replacement through HP Part Store. It is unavailable for purchase. I was also told over the phone the replacement cable will cost $170 by a HP support tech, after spending several hours being transferred here and there.

Does this cable actually cost $170 USD? For that price, I could easily buy a refurbished headset on ebay, and get a perfect cord. But with a free extra headset and set of controllers for the same price....

I feel like HP support was lying to me... The rep even tried to sell me on the price, by telling me that its more advanced than the new thunderbolt 3 cable, and how its super advanced and no other cable will work, and thats why its so expensive. I feel like I need more opinions on this.

If this is the product number for your Headset, here is the list of parts.

The part is not available at the HP parts store as you mentioned, and when I google the part number, a few sites have it for lots of money.  Some of it is in foreign currency.

 

For example, this place sells it for 246.10 Swiss Francs ($248.54 USD).

I can't find a US Seller, but it sounds to me that the $170 that is being quoted is correct.

 

You can buy a brand new unit for $300 as it is currently on sale.
