HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset VR1000-122a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product: HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset VR1000-122a

PC: Dell Precision 5530

CPU: Core i7 - 8850H

Graphics: NVIDIA Quatro P1000

RAM:  32GB

PC has the latest updates from Dell and Windows. Graphics Card is updated also.

Headset connects to computer fine and goes throught tracking and room setup. It shows up in Device Manager under mixed reality devices and Monitors. It comes up with the error 14-2 Couldn't start windows mixed reality, however, says its ready after clicking try again a few times. When I put on the headset it's blank and then gives error 14-2 again.

This headset works on another computer which is identical. I have 2 HP mixed reality headsets (identical) and neither of them work on this computer.

I have tried:

Reinstalling graphics drivers

Unplugging and plugging back in

Restarting

Reinstalling Mixed reality

Complete factory reset including wiping data

Contacting Dell Support (who tried for 3 hrs) - They recommended I try here.

Here is an update for others with this problem.

Turns out it was a windows issue. After trying a factory reset with full wipe and no success I tried a fresh Windows install from USB. https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/15088/windows-10-create-installation-media
