Hello,
I just bought a used VR1000-100 that works but has connection issues.
When I plug-in USB and HDMI I get error 1-4 Check display cable.
However, if I wait I can connect. At five minutes after cable connection
my screen saver turns on. After 30 minutes I get an audio output and the
screen saver quits. Within 15 seconds I get one of two behaviors. Either
the headset connects and displays the cliffhouse, or I receive a message
stating the headset is in sleep mode to which I reply "wake" and the headset
connects and displays the cliffhouse.
Is this a problem with the screen saver or do I have a cable problem?
Once connected everything seems to work fine, but a 30 minute delay is a problem.
HP Envy x360 convertible.
Store apps up-to-date.
Headset driver up-to-date.
Windows 10 21H2, Windows Update up-to-date.

Hello again,
I experimented more today. I increased the screen saver delay to 60min
from 5min effectively eliminating any screen saver interactions. I also decreased
the screen turn-off time from 30min to 5min. As I expected the screen shut off
5min after cable connection and the headset connected shortly thereafter. So I've got
my connection time down to 5min. Much better than 30! But why the headset does
not connect immediately remains unknown. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
