Hello,
I am completely new to computers and was told this laptop was capable of running the latest games. I've just set this laptop up and I've come to realise it cannot run many games at all. it's not even capable of playing the latest Football manager game, which I thought would of been easy for a new laptop.
Is it worth purchasing a graphics card and if so, what would be compatible with this laptop? I cannot return the item as I've opened it and I am now stuck with it.
Thank you in advance.

I can make it clear from the beginning: It is impossible to install graphics card on normal notebooks. But before we can help, we need to know what EXACTLY is your HP Slim 15.6 i5 8GB 256GB FHD ? Please use the following instructions to find out the model/product of your machine:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
or
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108
Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).
Regards.

Thanks for quick response.
Product number: 8UD17EA#ABU
So are you basically saying I won't be able to upgrade this as its a notebook? Gutted.
Cheers
ALSO can you confirm that this device won't run Football manager 2020?

Ok, the specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06536674
It ONLY has Integrated Intel® UHD Graphics which is embedded on the processor, and the processor itself is soldered down to its System board. The System board has no MXM slot for a video card, even it had, you could not be able to upgrade.
You can find Minimum requirements for Football manager 2020:
https://www.wepc.com/benchmark/football-manager-2020-system-requirements/
And your machine does not meet its requirements
Regards.
