Hello community !

My computer (OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop 875-1018nb (8KV90EA)) could not turn on this afternoon.

When turning on, the screen, the move or the screen do not seem to turn on and the computer just does 3 long beeps followed by 3 short beeps.

I looked only and it appeared it could be due to the RAM, the CPU and the GPU. I unplugged everything, I removed the power input, my 2 RAMS,  fully disconnected the GPU, removed the CPU and the CMOS battery and let it rest for 30min. When putting everything back on, the problem was still there. I also tried to turn it on without GPU but the same problem occured. Eventually I tried to turn it on with one RAM (tried removing one and then the other) and the same issue occured.

Would you have any other trick to try ? Could it mean my CPU simply died ? Would changing the battery of the CMOS change anything ?

Thank you for the help !

Best,

Cedric

You're very welcome.

That doesn't sound good to me.

It could be the motherboard has failed since neither of the graphics adapters are working.

The card you removed may actually be fine.

As for there being another possibility, unfortunately that I do not know.

Hi, Cedric:

See this link for how to troubleshoot the 3.3 beep code:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_1997210-1528385-16

According to the table, it indicates your PC's graphics adapter has failed.

What I recommend you do it to remove the Nvidia graphics card and see if the PC works from the onboard Intel graphics adapter port on the back of the PC.

If that resolves the problem, you can continue to use the PC until you replace the graphics card.

Thank you for the answer, Paul.

I tried to boot with the Graphic Card unplugged (both from it's power supply and from the mother board) but I still have the 3-3 beeps.

Could it indicate that the Graphic card is not faulty here ?

Thank you for the help, really appreciate it.

I'll drop the pc to a repair shop and see what they say.

Have a great evening !

You're very welcome.

I think that it is a great idea.

Please post back and let us know what the repair shop indicated.

You may want to print out what the HP troubleshooting guide indicated for that code, or refer them to the link:

The red light blinks three times, and then three, short white light blinks (3 long red, 3 short white)

This condition indicates a potential graphic chip failure.

Contact HP Customer Support for further assistance.

You have a great evening too and I hope the shop has better news for you and doesn't cost too much to fix.

Cheers,

Paul
