I was wondering if the hp omen 870-224 has a 8 pin pcie power connector in it. I’m trying to upgrade to a rx 580.

@Cory85, welcome to the forum.
It would need at the very least a 6-pin power connector to run the GTX 1060-3 GB video card. It needs 120W to operate properly. You can open the case to see what is plugged into the video card. When you're in there you should be able to see if there are any loose connectors tucked out of the way. I have a 6-pin connector plugged into my GTX 1070-8 GB video card and there is a 6+2-pin connector (8-pin) unused laying in the bottom of the case.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

@Cory85, if there is a 6+2-pin connectorm, it would be somewhere in the case.
Did you check to see what is connected to your video card? As I stated, it will be one or the other of the connectors.

Would you mind telling us why you would install a 580?
The 870-224 came with a GTX 1060. its absolutely a waste of money to switch to an RX580 and its not an upgrade.
Unless your model number has two letters at the end of the number that you didnt mention.
