OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck1000 IDS Base Model

I don't understand why every time OMEN gaming hub updates it breaks my computer. A week ago, after an update I could no longer see information on my GPU status (temperature, fan, utilization). Now I am stuck in a loop of not being able to update the program and a 90B cooling fan not working. If it helps the fan on the left side is working but the right one is not on at all.

@Phealey, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The 90B error on your OMEN 17 (17-ck1000 series) indicates a cooling fan not operating correctly—specifically, it means the system has detected a fan failure (usually the CPU or GPU fan,

Please follow these steps,

Hard Reset the System

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Disconnect power, external devices, and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  3. Then boot again. This clears temporary issues with hardware detection.

Check BIOS Version + Reset Defaults

  1. While booting, press F10 to enter BIOS setup.
  2. Go to the Exit tab > choose Load Setup Defaults, then Save and Exit.
  3. Also check the BIOS version (write it down), and let me know—some firmware updates mess with fan tables.

Uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub Completely

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
  2. Uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub and HP System Event Utility if present.
  3. Then delete the folder:

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AD2F1837.OMENCommandCenter_*

You might need to take ownership of the WindowsApps folder first to delete it. Let me know if you need help with that.

Reinstall HP SDK and OMEN Gaming Hub

  1. Go to the Microsoft Store, reinstall:
    • OMEN Gaming Hub
    • HP System Event Utility (for hotkeys and fan reporting)
  2. Alternatively, use HP Software and Driver Downloads for your model (17-ck1000) and grab the HP SDK Package and OMEN Gaming Hub SDK directly.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Restart your PC and press Esc > then F2 for HP Hardware Diagnostics.
  2. Run the Fan Test under Component Tests.
    • If the right fan fails, it's likely a hardware issue.

If That Doesn’t Work:

Optional: Update BIOS

  • Only if BIOS is outdated, download the latest from the HP website for your exact model (double-check the 17-ck1xxx variant). Sometimes BIOS contains fan table fixes.
