Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not an HP employee.
Are you replacing or adding a second HDD? You need power and a separate SATA data cable connection from the second HDD to an open SATA 3 port on the motherboard.
You will hit a 2 TB limit if you are, in fact, running Windows 10 32 bit version. Your PC's UEFI BIOS should see this disk even if you are running W10, 32 bit.
The new HDD could be bad. Try it in a different, compatible, PC if this is possible.
The 870 series PCs usually ship with W10, 64 bit versions, and UEFI/GPT. These two items are needed to exceed the 2 TB threshold.
You can check out the HDD swapping procedure at this HP Support site. You need Flash to see the video.
Select: Desktops, OMEN, and any of the 870 Desktops.
Then select Service Procedures.
Regards
