Adding SSHD to Omen 880-160se

HP Recommended
Omen 880-160se
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased an Omen 880-160se CTO

I opted for the :

  • 1 TB HDD storage
  • 16 GB NVMe™M.2 SSD

I would like to add a Seagate 1000GB Laptop SSHD (2.5" SATA) to either one of the top slots or the additional interior slot.

It appears that this is possible, based on the Hard Drive/Solid-State Drive Replacement Instructions.

The unit doesn't come with a drive tray for an 2.5" drive, and I've been unsuccessful in locating a part number for that, on the HP store site. I keep getting the Omen Desktop configuration options, for purchasing the Configure to Order page, as results.

Would anyone be able to assist?

Thank You!

Hi,

Use the open drive tray for the 2.5" form factor device. The 2.5" form factor device fastens via the bottom using four screws as opposed to the 3.5" form factor devices fastening to the sides of the drive tray.

Try HP Part Surfer IF you can't locate a spare drive tray.

HP likes to place part numbers on many of the internal parts so look for a part number on the existing drive tray.

Thank You for your quick reply.

The tray that I can pull from the top drive slot appears like the top figure (below).

I believe that what you are referring to is the bottom picture, which is what I don't have,

or that I can find on the Part Surfer page.

Would you know how I could obtain the tray, shown in the bottom image?

Thank You!
