Hello everyone.
I have an OMEN by HP 35L Gaming Desktop PC GT16-0000a (9X4U4AV).
I would like to update the BIOS to the latest version, which is supposed to be F.20 Rev.A, according to the HP website.
I have three questions.
Is it advisable to update the BIOS to that version?
Could I upgrade my AMD Ryzen™ 7 8700F processor to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D?
Could you tell me which processors my PC is compatible with with the new updates?

Thank you very much in advance.

My pleasure.

This Forum would probably be the best place to get an answer to your upgrade question.

CPU upgrades are usually a no go if the HP MB has a CPU TDP limit such as your MB has.

And HP is only listing AMD "G" processor support at the MB specifications link in my previous response.

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Opinions or troubleshooting suggestions in this response are provided independently. I am not employed by: HP, Inc. or the HP Forum.

The HP 35L PC series is relatively new. So my experience in this Forum on upgrading CPUs in this platform is limited.

This HP Site lists specifications for your PC's MB (Wolant, MB SSID 8CF4).

The above site clearly lists a 65 watt TDP CPU upgrade limitation. So I don't think your PC's MB would support the 120 watt TDP 7800X3D processor.

The F.20 BIOS update for your PC's MB does not list anything in the "Fixes" section at this HP Site. This BIOS update might be a routine BIOS maintenance update.

It's your call on updating the BIOS to F.20. But you should use your PC's specific product number when doing a BIOS update.  GT16-0000a (9X4U4AV) is a generic product number applying to a series of HP 35L PCs. A specific product number would be something such as: GT16-0110nd.

Using a generic product number to update the BIOS could mess up specific MB information such as the PC's serial number and other PC specific info. A generic BIOS update could adversely affect the PC's warranty status and possibly put the MB into manufacturing mode.

Thank you very much for the information, I am new to this and don't know much about the topic. Well, I consider this thread closed, especially since this is not the appropriate place for it.
All the best, thanks
