Hello,
I wonder why I have such bad fps in basic video games like CS2 (average fps 40-110). The game is not smooth at all and yes, I have downloaded Nvidia's latest drivers, AMD drivers, and other drivers that HP support recommends to be downloaded. I have watched a lot of videos on YouTube and none of them has helped. This computer has been marked as "a gaming computer" and as you can assume playing online games at lower than 100 fps is not a smooth and nice experience at all. Usually, my fps gets lower near other people so could this mean my CPU has some kind of issues?
My PC is usually relatively quiet when playing so that is also mind-boggling for me because it feels like the PC is not even trying to get better frame rates. (I do not have limited fps in CS2).
In Valorant I have an average of 150 fps and the 3D Mark Demo gives an average of 30 fps.
I have also reset my PC and this hasn't helped either.
Help would be highly appreciated...

Hi @mikko321321,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with inconsistent performance in CS2 despite having a high-end setup. Here are some potential causes and solutions you might want to explore.
Check for Background Processes
- Ensure no background applications or processes are consuming significant resources. You can use Task Manager to monitor CPU, GPU, and RAM usage.
Verify Game Settings
- Double-check your in-game settings. Sometimes, certain settings might be more demanding than necessary. Consider lowering some graphical settings to see if it improves performance.
Thermal Throttling
- Even if your PC is quiet, thermal throttling could still be an issue. Check your CPU and GPU temperatures using software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner. If temperatures are high, you might need to clean out dust or improve cooling.
Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers
- Make sure your motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, system performance issues can be addressed with BIOS updates.
Power Settings
- Ensure that your power settings are configured for maximum performance. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select the "High performance" plan.
Check for Bottlenecks
- Even with high specs, there might be a bottleneck. The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G has integrated graphics, but since you have a dedicated GPU, make sure the system is utilizing it properly. You might want to check the settings in your Nvidia Control Panel to ensure that CS2 is using the Nvidia GPU instead of the integrated graphics.
Reinstall Graphics Drivers
- Although you've updated drivers, a clean reinstall might help. Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove current drivers and then reinstall the latest ones from Nvidia.
Check for System Updates
- Ensure your operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, updates can fix compatibility issues or performance problems.
Network Issues
- Since you mentioned performance drops around other players, consider checking your network connection. Latency or network issues might also contribute to perceived performance issues in online games.

Check for Hardware Issues
- Run hardware diagnostics to ensure there are no underlying issues with your CPU, GPU, or RAM. Tools like MemTest86 for RAM and GPU-Z for GPU can be useful.
Overclocking
- If you're comfortable with it, consider overclocking your CPU or GPU. However, make sure you monitor temperatures closely and proceed with caution.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Check For Background Processes
I added one monitor to my setup to watch my PC's performance from the task manager. When CS2 is open as an example on map Inferno in a 5v5 bot game it shows:
Processor: 48 % 4,13 GHz
Memory: 12,6/31,8 Gt (40%)
GPU 0 Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 Ti: 47% (66 °C)
(I have chrome on the background and nothing else. Closing Chrome doesn't do anything either)
Verify Game Settings
I changed graphics as low as possible and it has no effect as it were the best.
Thermal throttling
I downloaded HWMonitor and it shows max temperatures:
HP8876 (assuming this is the motherboard):
HPTZ: 73 °C
TZ01:74,6 °C
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G:
Package: 74.8 °C
Cores (max): 72,3 °C
L3 Cache: 66.2 °C
GFX:61.4 °C
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti:
GPU: 64 °C
Memory: 64 °C
Hot Spot: 71,7 °C
Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers
I think I have downloaded all the drivers. I also downloaded CCleaner to test for any missing drivers and it shows 0 updatable drivers. ( I have downloaded all drivers from:https://support.hp.com/fi-fi/drivers/omen-25l-desktop-pc-gt11-1000a/model/2100816067?sku=4Z6L1EA&ser...) And the latest GPU drivers from Geforce Experience.
Power Settings
High performance plan has been on and hasn't helped.
Check For Bottlenecks
Checked from Nvidia Control Panel and it should be on the right GPU.
I also checked from CS2 console by typing sys_info and it says;
Render system: DX11
Driver Name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti
Driver Version: 32.0.15.6094
Reinstall Graphics Drivers
I downloaded the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), uninstalled the GPU driver from there, and downloaded drivers again from GeForce Experience. No effects.
Check For System Updates
I Ran Windows updates and it says my system is up to date.
Network Issues
I have an Optical Fiber with a good, stable connection. I am currently using 300 Mbit/s with no problems.
If any of these, for example, temperatures or usages seem odd to you let me know.
