Hi @Doc_80,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing a black screen issue on your HP Pavilion gaming laptop can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check for External Connections: Ensure there are no external devices connected to your laptop (such as USB drives, external monitors, etc.), as they may be causing interference.
  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve software-related issues. Press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the laptop turns off, then press the power button again to turn it back on.
  • Check the Power Adapter and Battery: Make sure the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and a power source. If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it and then reconnecting it before turning the laptop back on.
  • External Display: Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI cable to see if the display appears on the external screen. If it does, the issue may be with your laptop's display.
  • BIOS Reset: Try resetting the BIOS settings to default. To do this, turn off your laptop, then press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This should drain any residual power and reset the BIOS.
  • Hardware Check: If you're comfortable with it, you can open up your laptop and check for any loose connections or damaged components, particularly around the power button area. However, be cautious and make sure you're grounded to avoid static discharge.

Remember to back up any important data on your laptop before attempting any troubleshooting steps that may involve resetting or opening up the device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
