I get a black screen whenever I turn it on but everything lights up fine (it is not the monitor)

Hello

 

Your PC is not that old. Are you in warranty?

 

So you successfully tested the monitor and HDMI cable on a different PC?

 

Contact HP Support if you are in warranty.

 

Any motherboard component or the power supply, if the monitor and HDMI cable is good, could be causing the problem.
