Hello

Notebook HP omen 16 xfoo15nb 16.1

I'm recieving a black screen while gaming after a few minutes. This happens only when the notebook is attached with cable and not on battery.

I found on the internet alot about updates, wich I did. The CPU and GPU are not getting warm..

Do you guys have another solution?

Tnx in advance.

Hi @Deugdmassage,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken some good initial steps in troubleshooting the issue with your HP Omen 16 laptop. Since you've mentioned that the problem only occurs when the laptop is connected to the power cable and not when running on battery, it could potentially be related to the power supply or power management settings.

Here are a few additional steps you can try.

  • Power Settings: Check the power management settings on your laptop. It's possible that there's a setting related to power delivery or performance that's causing the issue when the laptop is plugged in. Make sure your power plan is set to a balanced or high-performance mode while gaming.
  • Power Supply: If you have access to another power adapter or charger compatible with your laptop, try using it to see if the issue persists. A faulty power adapter could be causing fluctuations in power delivery, leading to the black screen issue.
  • BIOS Update: Ensure that your laptop's BIOS is up to date. Sometimes, BIOS updates include fixes for compatibility issues and can improve system stability.
  • Graphics Drivers: Even though you mentioned updating drivers, it's worth double-checking that both your GPU drivers and integrated graphics drivers (if applicable) are up to date. Sometimes, conflicts between drivers can cause issues like black screens during gaming.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Run hardware diagnostics on your laptop to check for any potential hardware issues. Most laptops have built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify problems with components like the GPU, CPU, and RAM.
  • Temperature Monitoring: While you mentioned that the CPU and GPU aren't getting warm, it's still worth monitoring their temperatures during gaming sessions using software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner. Overheating components can cause performance issues and black screens.
  • Check Event Viewer: Sometimes, Windows Event Viewer can provide clues about what might be causing the black screen issue. Look for any error messages or warnings around the time the black screen occurs.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
