Bought Gaming Monitor and game feels slow, help?

Hi guys,

I've just bought a gaming monitor (HP 27mx 144 Hz Full HD Gaming Monitor (1920 x 1080), (1 DP, 1 HDMI) Black /Blue) and when I play Destiny 2 the response rate feels extremely slow. I've lowered my game settings, increased my monitor video quality to 5, turned on G-sync and still slow. I've attempted to access Nvidia control panel and unable to access where I get a message saying; "Nvidia Display settings are not available" "You are not currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU.

Also, my graphics card:

NVDIA GeForce GTX 1080

Can someone help, please?

Questions...

• Could you be more specific as to what you mean it feels slow?
• Would you also post what PC its connected to? Its ok to give the model number of what ever brand it is, even if its not HP. If custom, what are the pc specs?
• How do you have it connected, what port? Is it on the graphics card or from the I/O shield port?
• Is it only Destiny 2 or other games also?

Sure, when I move in Destiny 2 I can see that my responce time is not as quick as it should be. When I play pvp in Destiny 2, my movement is not quick so my responce time is slow. When I look at the fps number / ping number is around 100 - 120. This is what I was using in my old monitor and now with the new monitor my response is not as quick. I feel like I need like 200 fps so I've reduced my in-game settings to mid and to low which doesn't make too much of a difference.

My specs of the PC:

I've connected the HDMI cable to the graphics port.

Yes, Destiny 2 is the only game I play.

I've trying to get Nvidia gsync active by the option does not appear when I go to the Nvidia control panel so tried to try look at forums to activate it but doesn't seem to work.

Ok, I cant speak too much about the game itself, but I can help with the monitor a little.

Its not G-Sync compatible. Its only AMD Freesync capable. That is why its not enabling in NVIDIA's control panel. Its not on NVIDIA's compatible list. You will have better luck using DisplayPort for the high refresh rate also (recommended). I would use that instead of HDMI. Specs do show that to get the 1ms response time, you have to have Overdrive enabled in the OSD menu. I cannot find a menu chart explaining where it is exactly.

Other than that, I'm not sure what to tell you.  FPS will get lower, the higher the refresh rate (Hz) you use though as it taxes the graphics card more.

If I plug the HDMI cable into the graphic I can access the NVIDIA control panel. Ohhh so the monitor is AMD Freesync capable, not gsync.
I have the HDMI connected to the other HDMI port which is the display or graphics port.

The fact that you can open the NVIDIA control panel has nothing to do with the monitor.

Again, yes its only AMD Free-sync capable. Not a feature the NVIDIA control panel will show if the monitor cant do it.

Overdrive means the monitor isn't full fast 1ms response capable by default. You have to enable a function to get it to work.

Again, you have to find it in the OSD menu of the monitor to enable it.
