Hello,
I have an OMEN 25L Desktop - GT12-0157c. I can't seem to find the specs for it, sorry!
The original CPU was a Ryzen 7 3700X, but I swapped it with a Ryzen 5 5600G. My understanding is they're both AM4 sockets so it should be compatible. After swapping it and booting it up, the monitor doesn't turn on. Also, when I turn it on, it turns off after a couple of seconds then will turn back on again for some reason.

Hi,
You are correct. The AM4 socket accepts the latest Ryzen CPUs. Your MB is limited to the previous gen (3000 series) Ryzen processors. A 3900 at 65 Watt TDP is the limit. This is an OEM part. Don't think you can buy this part at retail.
But HP has to update the BIOS to see the CPU you installed.
HP does not normally do this type of BIOS update. This is the latest BIOS update for your MB (Link). Look in "Fixes". No mention of adding additional CPU support.
Regards
